Love and Acceptance: Inspiration from Everyday Extraordinary Women

Need a pick me up? Read on for some inspiring insight on love and acceptance from everyday extraordinary women.

KELLY – WIFE, WORKING MOM OF TWO, CHARLOTTE, NC

On the most beautiful people she knows…

“They’re accepting of people, and the situation they’re in. They (my kids) don’t read too much into things, they’re not jaded. I just think that is like the coolest thing. And the third person would be my mom. I think that she is conventionally pretty on the outside but she is also the most loving person and really funny and silly. That’s the most beautiful to me.”

On self-love and accepting yourself…

“So to me beauty is just realizing who you are and embracing it and being confident in it, knowing that it’s not the same for everybody. Those girls are still beautiful, but it’s just not me. So being true to yourself and not trying to be like somebody else.”

On overcoming challenges…

“We all have some kind of a challenge in our life, whether it’s being a single mom or a working mom or a stay at home mom. Or somebody that’s dealing with an illness or a sick parent or loss of a job. Just recognizing that you’re doing a good job, you’re gonna get through it, means you’re making it. That’s extraordinary, just dealing with everyday life and getting it done”

ANA VERGARA – SISTER, ENTREPRENEUR, TV AND RADIO PERSONALITY, HAIR AND MAKEUP ARTIST, HOLLYWOOD, CA

On the beauty of being yourself…

“It’s when someone is unique in their own personal way. When they’re themselves, when they are real to me and they’re sitting down and I can see to their soul and they’re humble and kind.”

On acceptance…

“What makes someone beautiful is that they’re comfortable in their own skin. And especially right now in this world we live in, in this moment, being all shapes, all sizes, all ethnicities, everything is beautiful.”

On loving yourself, inside and out…

“What beauty means to me is being able to feel comfortable in your own skin. It doesn’t matter what size you are, it doesn’t matter what ethnicity you are, just being able to be comfortable, be happy with yourself. And as long as you’re ok with you, everything’s fine.”

AMY – WORKING MOM OF TWO, SISTER, HAIRSTYLIST, CHARLOTTE, NC

On kindness…

“Kindness. I think to be kind is so easy, but its not something everybody does. I think simple efforts go a really long way. A smile goes a long way.”

On inner beauty…

“Beauty is something that happens on the inside. It’s knowing yourself, loving yourself.”

ALIKA RAY – MODEL, ACTOR, TEACHER, ADVOCATE, DALLAS, TX

On loving others…

“I find beauty in every single person, I really try to.

On teaching self-love…

“More importantly, I am just teaching them all about self-love. Because that’s where I believe beauty comes from – it all really comes from the inside.”

“And those are such important characteristics of beauty to me, when you are kind; and you have empathy; and you have selflessness; and you’re full of love… that’s what makes you beautiful.”
