Get The Look
Beauty Tips from a Modern Pin-Up
We asked Gina Elise, founder and CEO of Pin-Ups for Vets, for her best beauty tips. Her responses are simple, yet life changing.
- Take time for yourself.
I really like to take the time to look put-together and polished because that’s when I feel the best about myself. I feel the most beautiful, physically, when I have taken the time to get ready with my cat-eye liner, red lips, finger-waved and curled hair that has been pinned with a flower, and a vintage-style dress and high heels. When I dress like this, I feel confident and beautiful. I don’t know what it is about dressing like a vintage-style classic pin-up, but for me, it brings out a sense of “I can do anything!” and “I can conquer the world!” It sounds so funny when I say it, but it’s so true.
Recently I’ve discovered the Clarisonic spinning face brush that has really helped me to maintain a clear complexion.
- Rock a red lip that doesn’t fade.
If you want your red lipstick to last longer, before you apply lipstick, apply lip pencil not only to outline the lips, but to also fill them in. Then apply lipstick on top.
- Use quality hair products from start to finish.
I have heard that “a woman’s hair is her crowning glory” and for a pin-up girl especially, vintage hair styling is such a big part of the look. I use the Beauty and Pin-Ups line to help me style my hairdos and to give lots of lift and bounce to my curls!
I have to say, without a doubt, that I have truly fallen in love with the hair products from Beauty & Pin-Ups. I love how they make my hair feel when I use them. I love that they are made with good ingredients, and I adore the fragrance! I am able to go the whole day during all my lengthy events, and my hairstyle keeps its just-done style….and that says a lot when a product can keep up and perform well with my busy schedule!
- Give back.
I feel the most beautiful, internally, when I am doing something to give back to this world. I think there is nothing more beautiful than helping to make this world a little better than we found it. I feel like it is our responsibility to do this while we are here on this earth. There is a quote, “Your life is made up of two dates and a dash. Make the most of the dash.” For me, that means finding a way to give back and contribute during the time that we are alive. Winston Churchill is widely quoted as having said, “We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give.” I feel that I am truly living when I am giving back to others.
